We've all seen those increasingly annoying adverts (sorry, but Dale Winton was the last straw), and they have even become a bit of a staple on the treadmill that is light entertainment quiz television. But are any of those Cash My Gold sites actually any good?
The short answer is no, of course they aren't. Anybody spending that much on advertising has to pay for it some how, and the funding for all that dentalwork on display doesn't come from the fund for their Christmas Party, it comes right out of the commission they would otherwise be paying you.
Lets take a look at some of them:
So, none of the TV advertised companies tell you how much you are likely to get up front. Presumably they rely on you not being bothered enough to reject their offer for your gold when you get it.
For an interesting article on selling your gold, check out this piece in Times Online.
For the last word on when to sell your gold, I will point you to a recent FT article. Read it soon before they start charging for it!
And if you can't be bothered to read all that, it basically says "Sell gold when the govts start acting responsibly about their debt". IE not yet.
