|
|
Have tried to install as per instructions, usb on desktop and wireless to laptop - cannot get to 192.168.1.1 on either, diagnostics on Cd gives me a 'run-time error 13', modem admin shows just a 'cannot display web page' message. When modem switched on just get the BBV light solid and Diag light flashing, no other lights.
As you can guess from my ID, not happy with this as it was listed as being a doddle to install - far from it!! CD does not have any instructions for this product, go to the BT site and its impossible to find there, inventel site is unavailable - seems there is no way to get this thing working!! |

Hi,
The CD works ok, can access the help and diagnostic screens, just when I try to access modem admin the IE responds that I have no connection - no access to the routers config.
The page about the adapter is not appropriate, I can switch to another modem and it works fine - am using now - and the adaptor functions ok - when BT hub attached I have 2 adapters, the Realtek one is crossed out, the one created with USB install (local area connection 2) is fine as is the 1394.
When i IPconfig i get the default windows (automatically generated IP address) for the pc and 192.168.1.254 for the router. |

Hang on, do you have a Fusion hub or an 1800HG hub?
The IP address you list (192.168.1.254) is for an 1800HG.
The 1800HG is black. The fusion hub has grey bits on it.
If you are getting that "connect to internet" bit, it indicates you haven't configured IE yet.
1. Open up IE and go to TOOLS.
2. Set homepage to ABOUT.BLANK
3. Select INTERNET OPTIONS
4. Click CONNECTIONS
5. Make sure it is set to NEVER DIAL A CONNECTION.
6. Click LAN SETTINGS
7. Make sure everything is blank.
8. Once you have done that, close IE then reopen it.
9. Navigate to http://192.168.1.254
10. If that fails, navigate to http://192.168.1.1 |

Well can you navigate to http://192.168.1.254 then?
Also, can you try connecting via ethernet instead, and doing an IPCONFIG and seeing what you get.
Finally, when IE asks you to connect, have you tried clicking CONNECT? |

I replugged in the Hub to check this out - when I try to navigate to either 192.168.1 or 254 I get an IE cannot display webpage message. If I Ipconfig i now get the address of the router as 169.254.158.227 but cannot navigate to this - same message.
If I try modem admin off the CD, first message is navigation to webpage cancelled, refresh & when I refresh I again get the cannot display.... message.
As for ethernet, I do not have the correct cable, my ethernet connection is rj45, not the connection type included with the hub.
What else can I try? |

There should be three cables in your hub box. One RJ11 cable which had a filter attached. One RJ45 ethernet cable, and one USB cable.
Regarding your IP address, that is known as an APIPA address, and means your computer hasn't been able to get an address from the router.
Can you try connecting wirelessly?
Incidently, did you get a letter in the package saying that the hub was unlocked and that I had changed the security code? I am trying to place when your hub was sent to you. |

In the box I got a usb cable plus the rj11 attached to the filter, no rj45.
Connect wirelessly? No, have tried a few times to connect a laptop, enter the WEP in the setup connection screen and then try to connect - nothing happening.
Yes inside the box was a letter saying the unit is unlocked - arrived on Thursday last week. Wish it was as easy as "connect, enter ISP username and password and surf away"!!!
Is there any way to reset the hub, perhaps that way I can get to the configuration screen? |

| Did the letter also say that we had changed the security key? It is actually WPA, not WEP. You need to use the new key. |

No, the letter says that a WEP key is assigned, label on bottom of hub has WEP key used when I enter the wireless setup. Actually when I create a new wireless connection for the hub, the input screen defaults to WPA and the change the authentication back to WEP so that I can enter the key.
I do not see a WPA code on the hub, where would I get this info from? I assume that when I try to connect via USB or modem that having unlocked the unit I do not need to enter this key?
If so, then I am still not able to physically connect the hub to my desktop, as I cannot yet get to the config pages. |
